What’s Happening to the Premium Plan?
The Premium Plans (both Premium and Premium + Players) will be discontinued and replaced with the Educator Plan. The Premium Plans will no longer be available for purchase. Existing Premium plans will remain active until the end of their current renewal periods. At that time, these plans will not renew and educators will have the option to purchase the new Educator Plan. While their Premium Plan is active, educators will have the option to convert early at a prorated cost.

What is the Educator Plan?
The Educator Plan is a new membership that grants access to all dashboard features and provides player memberships to every active student registered to the educator’s account. At the base level, the Educator account will accommodate 30 students.
Player memberships will remain active as long as the Educator Plan is active. Players who are removed from the educator’s roster will have their player membership removed. Players who are added to the educator’s roster will have a player membership allocated to them.

What’s Happening to the Student Limits?
At the base level, educators will be restricted to a maximum of 30 active students across their classes. An active student is a unique player account that is linked to a non-archived class.
All educators will start at the base tier with a limit of 30 students. This limit can be increased by purchasing additional bundles of 10 students.
This limitation on the number of students that can be linked to an educator is account-wide, not class-wide.
For example, an educator may have 3 classes registered to their account.
- The first class has 14 students and is not archived
- The second class has 5 students and is archived
- The third class has 16 students and is not archived
In this scenario, the educator has 30 active students across their classes and has reached the base limit. All 30 of these students will have a player membership linked to their account.
Existing educator accounts that have exceeded their current limit, will be unable to add new student accounts until they either archive/delete students from the roster or purchase additional student bundles.
What if I Need More Than 30 Students Linked to My Account?
Educators who need more than 30 students can purchase bundles of 10 students. If an educator needs 30 additional students for a total of 60 students linked to their account, then 3 additional bundles must be purchased.
Additionally, schools and districts can also purchase on an educator’s behalf. For more information, please see this article.
I Am a Free User. What Are the New Changes Impacting Me?
Educators who do not have an active membership will have a trial period of 45 days to use the dashboard that will start upon your next login. Educators creating a new account will also have a trial period of 14 days to experiment with all the features that Shoelace offers. After this trial period has expired, free users will need to upgrade to the Educator plan to continue using the dashboard.
For educators with more than 30 students registered to their account, no students can be added to the roster until the educator has removed other existing students from the roster to remain below the 30 student threshold, or when the educator upgrades to the corresponding Educator plan.
I Am a Premium user. What Are the New Changes Impacting Me?
Existing premium users will keep their current memberships until the end of their existing subscription period. At that time, these plans will not automatically convert; these plans will not renew. Educators will need to purchase the new Educator plan from their dashboard. Educators will receive a credit equal to the base price you were charged for your Premium Plan applied to their new Educator plan in perpetuity. For example, if you were charged $48 for your Premium Plan, then you can convert to the Educator Plan with an annual credit of $36 that will be applied to every subscription renewal until cancellation.
If educators convert their Premium to the Educator plan before their Premium has canceled, they will be charged on a prorated basis in addition to the promotional credit.
Users with classes that have fewer than 30 students will not be required to take action on student limitations. If users would like to have more than 30 students registered to their class, an upgrade to the existing Premium plan will be required to accommodate additional students beyond the 30 students limitation.
Users that have more than 30 registered students will be required to upgrade their membership plan to accommodate additional students beyond the 30 student limitation. Alternatively, users may archive/delete students until there are fewer than 30 students.
I Am a Legacy P+ User. What Are the New Changes Impacting Me?
Existing P+ users will keep their current memberships until the end of their existing subscription period. At that time, these plans will not automatically convert; these plans will not renew. Educators will need to purchase the new Educator plan from their dashboard. At this time, educators will be eligible for our Promotion of a credit applied to their new Educator plan.
Users with classes that have 30 or more students registered will be required to archive/delete students until there are fewer than 30 students enrolled in classes or upgrade their premium plan to accommodate additional students beyond the 30 students limitation.
We will reach out individually to educators who were on a P+100 or higher plan. If you are an affected user, please keep an eye on your inbox for additional information.

What Changes for the Player Experience?
To celebrate the launch of the Educator Plan, new and existing players who are part of a non-archived class will receive 45 days of membership.
