Adding Students to My Class

Click on the link for each method you are interested in:

To begin adding students to your account, please login to your dashboard account.

1. After you have signed into the Shoelace’s Dashboard, select the class you want to manage.

2. Choose the ‘My Players’ tab from the left menu

3.  Click on the + ADD button.

4. There are 4 options to add players to your account. Please click on the tab with your preferred option for adding players.

1. Sync class with Google Classroom
2. Sync class with Clever
3. Add players manually
4. Add existing players with Class Code

Option 1: My Students have Google Classroom

1. Select Google Classroom and click Sync Classes

2. A pop-up will appear to enter your email or select the Google account you would like to sign in with. This will fetch your data and sync it with Shoelace. 

3. A popup may appear asking for permission to allow Shoelace Learning to access your roster. To proceed with Google Classroom sync, this consent is needed. If you are not comfortable sharing access, please use the 'Add Manually' path to add students to your account.

4. The dashboard will populate with a list of your students in your Google Classrooms. Select the class you would like to import or select students individually.

When you have selected a number of students that would exceed the limit, you will receive a notification that you are exceeding the limit. A class cannot be selected if the number of students within would exceed your number of students limitation.

If your account has a number of students under your number of students limitation in your unarchived classes, your students will be imported. If your account has exceeded your number of students limitation in your unarchived classes, the sync will not occur until you have reduced your student count or increased your student limitation.

5. When you have finished your student selection, click on the 'Create/Link Accounts' button in the bottom right.

Option 2: My Students have Clever

1. Select Clever and click Sync Classes

2. You will be redirected to Clever’s Log in page. After you have signed in with your credentials this will fetch your data and sync it with Shoelace.

3. The dashboard will populate with a list of your students in your Clever Classrooms. Select the class you would like to import or select students individually. Students who are not already in our system will default to having a new account created for them. If they have an existing account that should be linked to their Clever credentials, please select that student and choose that account. Only player accounts that are already a part of your class can be chosen to link to a student's Clever sync.

4. Input a grade that will be applied to all your chosen students as the starting point for their placement test (a diagnostic that will determine each student’s Reading Comprehension Level). When you have finished your student selection, click on the 'Create/Link Accounts' button in the bottom right.

Option 3: Adding Students Manually

1. Navigate to the 'My Players' tab

2. Select 'Add Manually'

3. Select the grade that will be applied to all of your new players

4. Enter each student's First Name and Last Initial.

5. To add more than 1 player, click on the + icon and repeat step 4 until you have inputted all your desired account details. The + icon will not be available when you have reached your number of students limitation and a popup will appear to notify you. To add more students beyond your student limitation, please remove existing students from non-archived classes or increase your number of students limitation.

6. Click Create Accounts to complete account creation.

7. A pop-up will appear with the Player Login details, which you can download for your student’s future references.

Option 4: Link Existing Player Accounts to My Class

1. Select "Add Existing Players". You will be shown a Class Code.

2. Players may use the Class code to enter their class through the game (Dreamscape/Drift) menu.
