M Coins

Stars

Stars are a currency in Drift. You can see how many stars you currently have by looking at the top of the screen on the main menu.

Stars can be used along with coins to purchase Avatars and Worlds. To buy a new Avatar, click the “Change Avatar” button. To buy a new world, click the “Change World” button. 

To get stars, you need to answer three questions correctly in a row. Each time you answer a questions correctly, you will see how close you are to your next star in the top left corner. 

Each check mark represents one question answered correctly in a row. Once you answer all three questions in a row correctly, you’ll get a star! Once you get a star, the count will restart from 0. 

In the shop, simply select the avatar or world you would like to purchase. If you have enough stars and coins, you can buy it. Your coins and stars will decrease when you buy an Avatar or World. 

Coins

Coins are another type of currency in Drift. You get coins by playing the game. You can see how many coins you currently have on the main menu. 

You’ll notice golden coins floating around on runs - run into them to get them! You can see how many coins you have at the top left of the screen. 

Powerups can help you get coins faster. Magnets will pull nearby coins toward you, and the X2 powerup will make every coin you get count as 2 coins. 

Hearts

Hearts are a resource you can gain by answering questions correctly, and lose by running into obstacles. You can have a maximum of 3 hearts at a time. If your hearts hit 0, your run will end and you’ll be brought back to the main menu. 

On the main menu, you can see how many hearts you have at the top of the screen

If you have fewer than 3 hearts while you're on the main menu, you can use the Shoelace Learning Zone to answer questions and gain hearts. 

When you’re running, you can see your current number of hearts in the lower left corner. 

When you hit an obstacle, you lose a heart. When this happens, you’ll have the chance to answer a question. If you choose to answer and get the question right, you’ll get your heart back. If you skip the question or get it wrong, your heart will stay lost. When you lose your third heart, your run will end. 

M Coins

M Coins are the final type of currency used in Drift. The M Coins you have are shared between both Drift and Dreamscape. You can see how many M Coins you have on the main menu. 

M Coins can be used to buy new Avatars. 

There are three ways to earn M Coins:

1. By playing Dreamscape

2. Your teacher or parents can send you a reward via their dashboard. 

3. A Shoelace Membership includes an initial bonus of 1000 M Coins.
