What is Dreamseeker Drift?
Dreamseeker Drift is a new game in the endless runner genre, developed by Shoelace Learning. Players can compete with each other in runs through vibrant worlds for high scores, dodging various obstacles and getting chances to continue their runs by responding to reading comprehension questions, providing both fun and educational learning opportunities.
How do I access Dreamseeker Drift?
Dreamseeker Drift is accessible through this link for computers: drift.shoelacegaming.com
This link may not be accessible to players attempting to access from a mobile device, such as a phone or tablet.
At this time, players with existing Dreamscape accounts can login using their credentials or sign in with Google if there is an existing linked Dreamscape account. Drift is accessible to players with their own active membership and players linked to a teacher class with an active membership.
How do I play Dreamseeker Drift?
On a computer, Dreamseeker Drift requires use of your arrow keys. The game plays similarly to a 2D world with 3D graphics. There are 3 lanes and your avatar can move between them to dodge obstacles, collect coins and powerups, and get your high score. Some obstacles can be jumped over, others can be ducked under, and more will force you to a different lane.
The longer you run without colliding, the faster your speed gets. When you collide with an obstacle, if you get the reading comprehension question correct, you will continue from where you crashed. Your speed will be reset to a slower pace and you can build up back to a fast run by avoiding obstacles.
The left arrow key will bring your avatar to the left, if you are not already in the leftmost lane.
The right arrow key will bring your avatar to the right, if you are not already in the rightmost lane.
The up arrow key will make your avatar jump.
The down arrow key will make your avatar slide forward.
All 4 of these controls will be needed during your endless runs. When you begin your first run, you will see the tutorial and get a chance to be familiar with these controls.
On your mobile device, use your finger to swipe in the direction you want to move.
Swiping left will bring your avatar to the left, if you are not already in the leftmost lane.
Swiping right will bring your avatar to the right, if you are not already in the rightmost lane.
Swiping up will make your avatar jump.
Swiping down will make your avatar slide forward.
How do I unlock new skins?
Skins for your avatar and the world you’re running in can be found from the Main Menu.
Avatars and worlds will each cost stars and coins to unlock.
You can earn 1 star by answering 3 questions in a row correctly.
You can earn coins by collecting them during your run. You must finish a run to keep the coins you collected. For example, your run must end by colliding into an obstacle and you click to return to the main menu. Closing the game during the run will not save the coins you earned during that run.
Some avatars will require a membership to purchase and others will be available for both members and non-members to purchase when you have enough coins and stars. Once you have unlocked a new avatar, you can click on it to switch to that avatar.
On the Main Menu, your avatar will equip the skin you chose.
How do I Answer Questions outside of Runs?
From the Main Menu, select the button ‘Shoelace Learning Zone’.
Then, select ‘Answer a Question’
This will bring up the question window. Questions from active assignments will automatically appear here, followed by questions appropriate to your reading comprehension skill levels. This is a great way to earn stars quickly!
Where can I manage my friends and classmates?
Your friends and classmates are visible through the friends tab in the Shoelace Learning Zone.
Here, you can send friend requests, see requests from others, and view your classmates and friends.
What is the leaderboard?
The leaderboard is a scoreboard of all players’ high scores. It can be accessed from the main menu, in the top right corner.
The high scores of the players with the farthest distances will be displayed. You can use the Filter to customize the scores you’d like to see.
From the filters, you can choose to see scores from your class only. You can also choose to rank scores based on distance, stars, or coins. You may choose to see scores from today, this week, or this month.
Select between available worlds for a different set of scores, as each high score is world-specific!
When you've chosen the settings for how you would like to view scores, please click the 'Filter' button in the top right again.
